In this project, students are given the opportunity to show what they know about scale factor/constant of proportionality. They need to find an image (similar to an app icon, comic book character, cartoon character, etc.) and then make an enlargement of the image. The project requirements ask that they identify the constant of proportionality they used to enlarge (or, shrink) their image, compare a few measurements from the original image and the new image, make a table, write an equation, and graph their findings.
This document includes a detailed project requirements page, a note page (for students to use as they work), rubric for self-assessment and teacher assessment, and a post-project reflection page.
