2 Sorting Activities
1 Fordable (cut and paste) activity
-Go over the three posters. Display them in your classroom.
-Pass out the page with the three mini posters (BOOKMARKS for student reference!)
-Make a class set, partner set, or whole group set of the sorting activity. Cut out the red and yellow sorting cards. Have students sort the Type of Literature with the list of Elements/Characteristics
-Use the Graphic organizers to compete when reading poems (Suggestion- My Shadow, Windy Night, Casey at the Bat), prose (summary of Casey at the Bat or any short story) or a drama (Any Reader’s Theater or age appropriate play)
-Use the Green and Blue sorting cards for students to practice reading a text and determining what Type of Literature it is. Students can also write and label characteristics on the text to help them determine whether the piece of literature is a Prose, Poem, or Drama
-Have students make a Foldable (Three tabs for each type of literature. On the inside students cut the different characteristics/elements and glue them into the right tab (prose, poems, or dramas)
