Product Description
Prosocial skills are important for all adolescents. Conversations, problem solving, asking questions, interrupting, and many more are examples of prosocial skills. Specific instructional strategies are required for those adolescents who have not yet gained some of the basics of positive social interactions

Learning new skills can be challenging. This product uses four ways to help the adolescent increase their prosocial skills. These four skills are: modeling, role-playing, giving feedback, then applying your new skill in a real life situation. The fifth skill addresses using the prosocial skill cards for students with autism or for those students who have not learned to read at the level of the prosocial skill cards. The students would determine what the prosocial skill is and then have a discussion on how they could use this skill. Although these prosocial cards are scripted, they are not meant as the only way to approach one of the skills. Instead, the cards are made as a way to practice their new skill by watching someone model and then role-play. After the role-play, students should discuss how the role play went. This is crucial in helping the adolescent feel more confident in their skills. Constructive criticism can be difficult to hear, but it should only be done in a positive way. Once the adolescent feels comfortable with their new skill, they can then apply their new skill in a real life situation. (Here will be how well the student has learned the skill because they can go off script and still feel confident.)
