Protein synthesis Interactive Notebook
Protein synthesis Cut and Paste
Transcription and Translation
This is a hands-on activity that can be easily incorporated into both an interactive notebook or as a traditional class activity. No matter how it's done, this is a successful activity when teaching protein synthesis; it is visual, hands-on, and promotes critical thinking.
There is a total of 5 pages: a page with directions and a cut-out mRNA strand, a nucleus page, a ribosome page, a page with additional cut-outs, and finally an analysis page consisting of 13 questions.
This activity is designed so that it can be done at any point during your DNA unit, but students should have had a solid introduction to protein synthesis and transcription/translation prior to this activity.
Required materials: scissors, glue stick, pen and pencil.
