Get students practicing transcription and translation by filling in the charts! Students are given a DNA strand (in ATA, CCG, etc. format), a DNA replicate strand, an mRNA strand, or a tRNA anti-codon strand, and from there will have to determine the rest of the triplets/codons, and amino acids. Codon chart is provided in the document.
From this worksheet, students get practice with the following concepts:
-Base pairing in DNA and RNA
-Determining mRNA from replicated DNA
-Determining tRNA (anticodon) from mRNA
-Determining amino acids from mRNA
-Reading a codon chart
There are four charts total, each with varying degrees of difficulty.
