There are 17 pages in this Vocabulary Bundle. You will find vocabulary words to post on a word wall, flashcards (pre-made), a vocabulary chart activity, a flipbook activity for the vocabulary terms, and a vocabulary matching quiz. This product can be used to support teaching the NGSS* standards.
Here is what you will find:
- Vocabulary terms for word wall: These words are meant to be posted onto a word wall. Word walls are a way to have the vocabulary words visual to students during a unit. In science, vocabulary can be extremely difficult for students--almost like a foreign language. With this said, it is important to push students to learn vocabulary in order for them to think deeper about the content being learned. Vocabulary will also help make students more literate, as scientists. So, we recommend hanging these vocabulary words up on a bulletin board or anywhere in your classroom where students will see them on a daily basis. It might be beneficial to laminate these so you can reuse them.
-Vocabulary chart with key: We have provided you with a blank vocabulary chart for student use, where they have to fill in the definition on their own. This can be an organizational tool for them, as they read through a textbook, take notes, or watch a podcast (see our podcasts on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JC9k_twP0EA and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eG8n69N2Ww ) The chart we have provided for the teacher has both the vocabulary word and definition.
-Flashcards: The flashcards are meant to be a tool used for student review. Students can use these with partners to review vocabulary terms. They will need to be printed or copied back to back.
-Vocabulary Flip Book Activity: This activity is another way for students to get a deeper understanding for the vocabulary in this unit. Not only do they have to define the vocabulary term, but draw a picture or diagram showing what it means, and use it in a sentence. This will help give them a full understanding to what the vocabulary means. We recommend to choose the vocabulary words that you feel are most valuable for students to know. Using too many words can become overwhelming for students with this activity. We have provided you with a picture of the start to a sample flipbook to help give you an idea of how this could look when students are finished.
-Vocabulary quiz with key: Basic matching the term to the definition vocabulary quiz.
