Begin lesson with the impact of Luther and the end of Christian unity. Watch 3 minutes from the Crash Course World History video that go over the problems Luther faced and how his criticisms impacted Western Europe. Students (in groups of 4) each become an expert on one Christian religion during the Protestant Reformation. Then students in their small groups share the key beliefs of each religion.
Students discuss which religion they would chose if they lived during this time. I used speech bubbles and had students do a "silent discussion" in which students read and responded to one another's answers. However, you could also have a normal class discussion.
