With the Design Thinking Process of: iDeate, iDesign, iDiscuss, iDo your learners will follow a rapid prototype engineering process that develops creative and non-routine cognitive skills.
In this prototyping activity, learners will start with a problem statement, brainstorm and research solutions (iDeate), sketch ideas of their solutions (iDesign) and create rapid prototypes using a unique material: FORMcard (iDo). Throughout the process learners are encouraged to photograph, test and reflect on their design and its functionality (iDiscuss). When finished the FORMcard material can be restored to its card state, for use by other learners or for a new activity. You can also photograph and import the FORMcard model for further refinement in 3D modeling software and printing.
FORMcard is a pocket sized card of strong, meltable bioplastic that is simple to use in the classroom. Just drop it in a cup of hot water and it's ready to use. View this video for more information about the uses of FORMcards:
FORMcards are the perfect resource for students to take their 2D design ideas to 3D models or for inclusion in Library Maker Kits to repair or connect 3D printed models. This moldable bioplastic can be used over and over encouraging risk taking and redesigning.
Purchase our design thinking sample lesson plan and grid sketch sheet and receive 5 FORMcards to support your learners or Makerspace kits. If desired, packs of 10, 20 or 30 can also be purchased, send a note to: firstname.lastname@example.org for pricing.
Bring this awesome hands on learning opportunity into your classroom and school today!
NOTE: The transitional colored FORMcards included with the Design Thinking Lesson Plan are for Educational Use Only and are not available to be sold separately.
