. The proverbs, or adages, are presented in sentences or paragraphs to provide context. With these cards, students work with proverbs, or adages, to complete the following activities:

Draw the literal meaning
Identify and define the proverb
Proverbs in fables
Proverbs as metaphors
Match proverbs to their meanings
