This is a collection of labs inspired by, Blindspot: Hidden Biases of Good People by Mahzarin R. Banaji & Anthony G. Greenwald.
In the labs we ask our subjects to make judgements about people based on either a picture (1 lab) or a name (3 labs). I also included a blank lab so that your students can test the name or attribute of most interest to them. There are a total of 5 labs in this collection.
Each lab includes 2 data collection sheets. I would have the students cut these apart for use with their subjects.
Also included are lists that include some names with personality traits that can be cut and pasted into Poll Everywhere for live polling of your students.
If we see selections of traits over chance (50 percent) then that means that we are not guessing about these traits, we THINK we know something about these people, it is not chance. Please understand, I am not suggesting that we actually KNOW anything about them but we THINK that we do.
