This is a great lab, self serving bias is so blatant it is amazing.
Self serving bias is: The tendency to attribute our successes to internal characteristics while blaming our failures on external causes. Through this lab we will attempt to identify self serving bias in our friends and acquaintances.
In this task the students survey their peers and ask them to explain a recent success and a recent failure. They record the responses and then make note of words like, “I” and “he/she” and “they” or “it" in the responses. Based on their subject's responses the students will see if they observe self serving bias in their subjects.
This collection includes 6 versions of the same lab. A couple where the responses are more directed and a couple that simply have more space in which to record the answers.
