How do researchers choose which type of research method to design? This mini-lesson lets students think critically about the different types of methodology such as true experiments, surveys, case studies, longitudinal, etc. There is a direct instruction PowerPoint to pair with a toolbox metaphor doodle notes. Then, 14 different scenarios are included for students to sort into a display and justify their reasons for putting them in the categories. Finally, there are discussion questions to synthesize their learning about research and decision making processes.
All resources include concepts, essential questions, learning targets, suggested agenda, easy to print-off resources, and self-assessment rubrics.
