The foundation projects form the basis for all twenty of the public speaking and reading projects my students might complete over their three years with our school. These opening units are designed to instill the essential skill sets of:
- eye contact
- facial expression
- pause / pace
- vocal control
The two are organized to be used concurrently in the same quarter and would set the stage for any further public speaking or reading you might do for the rest of the year. Both are deliberately simple projects in nature so that you and your students can focus on the essential mechanics of good communication.
With each unit I will supply you with all the information you will need to manage, model and prepare for these projects. Additionally, each comes with introductory information for your students, a breakdown of the goals for each day and detailed - but convenient - rubrics that will provide your students with clear feedback while allowing you to manage the presentations easily.
Our school enjoys a broad reputation for having one of the finest public speaking programs in the state and I'm confident that these two units will create the basis for any oration or public reading plans that you want to introduce into your curriculum.
