Storybook Speech Prompt and Guidelines:
The speech prompt introduces students to the concept of oral interpretation. After reading through the prompt, students are provided guidelines that outline the entire speech process.
Storybook Speech Vocabulary:
The vocabulary terms include 14 words that relate to oral interpretation. A worksheet listing each word is included for students to write the definition. A master list of words and definitions is also included for teacher use.
Vocabulary X-Word Puzzle:
A x-word puzzle is included for students to practice using the oral interpretation terms. An answer key is provided for easy grading or use with a substitute teacher.
The vocabulary assessment includes matching and multiple choice questions to ensure student mastery of the vocabulary terms. An answer key is provided for the assessment to make grading easier.
Students complete a book analysis to ensure understanding of the book they have chosen before attempting to read it in front of the class. The book analysis requires students to identify major literary concepts including a plot summary.
Storybook Speech Rubric:
The rubric provided covers general and specific criteria related to presenting an oral interpretation. The rubric provides students with clear expectations for preparing and giving their speech.
