This 7-day public speaking activity invites laughter, creativity, and friendships into your classroom. A variety of preparation activities help students become ready for their final performance, a story-telling speech based off popular children's books; however, there's a twist!
In small groups, students are responsible for reading through a popular children's book and distorting the story--playing with different points of views. Students rewrite a rough outline of the story with the twists and turns they come up with together, and individually, they write speeches from the perspective of specific characters.
During the performance day, students dress up like their characters and tell their sides of the story.
This was the funnest speech my students do all year, and they have a blast doing it! Every time a new group of students perform, and I amazed by their creativity and enthusiasm.
