Small books using two syllables words. This material may be used for your small or whole group instruction. When the students can identify the syllables you can introduce the book. Explain to the students that these words may not have a meaning but they still syllable combinations. Ask them to read syllable combinations as if they were words. At the beginning, they are going to try to read syllable combination individually, but tell them mo-me says mome.
I include a book a for each letter of the of the alphabet.
Ex: “M” book includes the following words: mama, mame, mami, mamo, mamu, mema, meme, memi, memo, memu, mima, mime, mimi, mimo, mimu, moma, mome, momi, mome, momo, momu, muma, mume, mumi, mumo, mumu.
