This activity involves the cross of Mr. Puff and Mrs. Piff, resulting in their cute baby "Piff-Puff". It demonstrates a dihybrid cross (AaBb X AaBb) as well as "blending" or the incomplete dominance inheritance pattern. Students complete a Punnett square and use it to determine the probability that Mr. Puff's and Mrs. Piff's first child will be a particular shade of blue. They then pair off and role-play parents. They will flip a coin to determine the color of their baby Piff-Puff and visit their classmates to find out other Piff-Puff color results. Class data is pooled in a table and compared to the Punnett square to see how well it predicted the outcome of the phenotypes of Mr. Puff's and Mrs. Piff's offspring.
