It's Fall and everyone loves pumpkins! This fun activity will give your students the opportunity to work in small/table groups, working cooperatively on a report about their pumpkin.
We send a note home to the parents asking for pumpkin donations. The note is included in the file and is EDITABLE! I try to get at least 7 different size pumpkins to use in this activity.
We use one of the pumpkins to demonstrate the activity. It involves, deciding on the size of the pumpkin as a group, then estimating and finding out information about the pumpkin's weight, circumference using links and height using cubes.
The students have to work together as a group to find the answer to each question. There are 2 different ways to do this:
1. just print the report and use
2. Print the report that is on the pumpkin, trace and cut out an orange pumpkin, then glue the report on the pumpkin.
For the younger students, they really like the report on the bright orange pumpkin. The older students are fine with the "print and use" report.
Included in this set:
-student report to print and use
-report on a pumpkin to glue onto an orange pumpkin cut out
-tracer for pumpkin
-cooperative group plans with this activity
-certificate to hand out after group activity
-EDITABLE note to send home to parents requesting pumpkins
We hope you enjoy doing this fun Cooperative Group Activity about a pumpkin!
