This file contains a delightful printable pumpkin counting book and home connection page. Your learners will gain practice in counting scattered configurations of 7, 8, 9 and 10 as well as a better understanding of "one more" as the stack of pumpkins grows by one as each page is turned. Kids will love to repeat the rhyming phrase of each page, "Count the pumpkins with Farmer Jack. How many pumpkins in the stack?"
The home connection page explains the standards addressed and gives suggestions for reading the book together at home. Parent signs and returns the last page.
The book can be done as whole group, during guided reading, or in a math center. A suggestion for math center is for your learners to make a set of pumpkins to match each page, adding one more as they turn each page!
The book can be used during guided reading as a math reader.
This book addresses the following standards:
K.CC.4 Understanding the relationship between numbers and quantities, connecting counting to cardinality
4a: Saying the numbers in standard order as you count
4b: Understanding that the last number said is the number that tells how many
4c: Understanding that each successive number refers to a quantity that is one more.
K.CC.5 Count to answer “How many?” questions about as many as 10 things in scattered configuration.
