This journal is perfect to use for students to record data while you exploring pumpkins! Each student can record data about their own pumpkin, or students can record data about a class pumpkin that is observed together.
Complete one to two activities each day.
Page 1- Observe and describe what the outside of your pumpkin looks like. Students choose to circle tall/round and small/medium/large.
Page 2- Use cubes to measure the height of your pumpkin. If each student has their own pumpkin, discuss who has the tallest or shortest pumpkin.
Page 3- Use a scale to measure the weight of your pumpkin.
Page 4- Cut open your pumpkin. Describe what the pumpkin feels like. The students can draw or write words to describe what the pulp and seeds feel like.
Page 5- Count the number of seeds (for this one, we count and record the number of seeds inside the teacher’s pumpkin.)
Page 6- Predict if your pumpkin will sink or float. Test your prediction.
Page 7- Students will decorate the pumpkin to show how he/she would decorate or carve the pumpkin.
The entire booklet is included in English and Spanish. Perfect for the dual language classroom!
