My students pretty much love any game that involves a fishing pole. So I came up with this Pumpkin Fishing game to go along with our Pumpkin Unit. Students fish for pumpkins, identify the letter on the back of the pumpkin, and color/stamp/trace it on their pumpkin printable.
This download includes the small pumpkins and the large pumpkin printable with letters on it. Simply print/copy the small pumpkins onto orange construction paper and write a letter on the back of each one. Put paper clips on each pumpkin and put them in a cauldron or jack-o-lantern so the students can fish them out without seeing what letter they are getting. Give each student a large pumpkin printable and marker and play! It was a huge hit in my class this week.
I put my pumpkin printables in sheet protectors and gave the students expo markers so that they could be used multiple times, but it would also be fun to dot the letters with do-a-dot paint if you don't mind making a lot of copies.
You also need to know that this does not include every letter. My small group centers are only about 5-7 minutes, so I know we wouldn't get through every letter, so I only did A-Q. Enjoy!
