This is a great direction writing activity for the fall. It is also a great activity to do for your Halloween or Fall Festival Day. Half your students design a paper pumpkin. After designing their pumpkin they write the directions down of how they created the pumpkin. The directions are then taken up and given to another student. That student must take the directions given and create the pumpkin exactly as the directions say. Students then walk around trying to find the matching pumpkins. You will either need to half your class (half draw and write directions while the other half completes the scarecrow activity) or do this with another class which is always great fun! When you give the group that was working on the scarecrow activity the directions, the original students who drew and did directions will do the scarecrow activity. The second group will draw the pumpkin they were given directions for.
