This is a 16 page journal for the students to complete and includes writing, labeling parts of a pumpkin, the pumpkin life cycle, predictions, measuring the pumpkin (circumference, length, diameter, height, weight), counting seeds (using place value and base ten), describing the pumpkin using the five senses, and an observation journal for the students to observe their pumpkin as it decomposes over a series of days or weeks.
This Journal can be used in many different ways. I separated my class into groups of three. Each group had their own pumpkin to write about, describe, label, measure, cut open, count the seeds, and observe as it decomposed (outside of course!).
