I created this game to help my students determine when to spell a word with a double consonant, and when to use only one consonant. All of the words in this game follow a predictable pattern using the letters C, O, G, A, D, S, L, ,T (short vowel sounds). Some words have a double consonant ending, others do not, but each slice of pie includes a spot for each letter to place a "whipped cream dollop" so as to help students with the spelling pattern. This game comes in both color and black and white, includes 9 different "pies" (or game boards), and a pumpkin pie spinner. I recommend playing the game in a small group setting. You don't have to, but if you want to add to the pumpkin pie fun, get some white pom poms to use as your "whipped cream"!
