Description
This is a combination of two of my favorite activities, Pumpkin Pie in a Cup and The Case of the Missing Pumpkin Pie Mystery Challenge. The day before break, we are going to do ALL THINGS PUMPKIN PIE by reviewing with the mystery task cards and by making a delicious treat. Pumpkin pie in a cup is the perfect dessert to make with your students. You can use the mini book provided to follow the directions to make the pumpkin pie treat. While you make it, you will read directions, work on teamwork and end up with something delicious. Your students can also predict, survey, graph and do a little math with their data. In addition, there is a fun pumpkin pie in cup craft, class graphing tools, and differentiated writing ideas. Also included is a donation letter for parents and mini recipe cards to send home and share with their families. For the mystery challenge, you will begin with a short video that will challenge your students to solve the case of the missing pumpkin pie. They will have to find out who took it, when they took it, and where they put it. To solve the case, students will work to complete 9 different task cards. The task cards are based on first grade standards in both math and language arts. Once they complete a task card, they will receive a clue. After they have all 9 clues, they will be able to solve the mystery. As a fun culmination, there are awards and headbands. There is a fun little story ending to explain what happened at then end. This is similar to the who dunnit activities.
