Your students will experience the natural integration of math and science when working hands-on with a real pumpkin. This fun and interactive activity is a great way to bring the excitement of the season into your classroom without losing your academic focus.
Students will make predictions and use science and math tools to confirm their predictions. Then they’ll record their observations and measurements. Finally, they’ll compare their predictions to information gathered during their investigation.
Everything you need for this fantastic classroom experience is included (except the pumpkin, of course!). Informative text task cards and detailed diagrams provide specific background information that students will use in their investigation. Direction cards for each part of the investigation are included along with a paper-saving tri-fold investigation log in which students will record background information research, predictions, observations and reflections. Also included are teacher tips for a successful pumpkin investigation and a possible unit timeline to see exactly how all of these pieces fit together to create a fantastic learning experience.
