Contents (2 files zipped together):

PowerPoint File

“All About Pumpkins” Informational Slideshow with Photographs (16 Slides)

PDF File (Pumpkins Unit)

Pages 5-10 can be printed and displayed on the wall or in a science or writing center for children to reference as they write and draw about pumpkins.

Pages 11-24 can be used to guide students toward doing informational writing about pumpkins. Start by reading some non-fiction books about pumpkins and doing some hands on activities (such as measuring, weighing, and carving a pumpkin). As your children learn about pumpkins, complete anchor charts as a way for them to communicate their learning. I have included colorful anchor chart headings on page 10 and page 15 (with sample charts following). After printing, cut those headers out and glue or tape them to chart paper. Allow students to help fill in the columns. These anchor charts will provide scaffolding to students as they begin to complete informational writing about pumpkins on the included writing pages.

The rest of the packet is filled with thematic printables for your students to practice their language arts and math skills!
