As students take Accelerated Reader tests, present projects on novels, or sit down for book talks, punch their bookmarks to reward or acknowledge their reading. For middle or high school: Distribute these bookmarks to help students keep track of their independent reading. They can cross off the pages or chapters they read each marking period. Assign one individual style to different grade levels or classes as part of a competition. For example, sixth graders might have the bookworms, seventh the green gradient, and eighth My Reading Record. Elementary school students could choose the design they like and keep track of the number of books or chapters they read.
