Pass out a punch card to each student on day one of class. Write their name on the card and tell them that it is their responsibility to keep up with it. It can be kept in their pencil bag or planner—their choice . Whenever you give a homework assignment, need documents signed, a child helped another,
returned borrowed items in class, etc. (Anything that you think is reward worthy), they get a punch. After they have been given 10 punches, the card will be full and they get a TREAT; The treats can be various things from candy, treasure box or reward card. When a card is full, give the student another punch card and continue. Always keep the completely punched cards and have a BIG drawing at the end of each 9 weeks. I have used punch cards and it is SUPER EASY and the kids love it. You will have to purchase a different shape hand held hole puncher so that kids won’t just take a regular hole puncher and fill up their cards. I used a heart shaped hole puncher. The children learn really fast to make sure they bring up their punch cards when they bring their assignments to me to be checked in. This will probably not work if you use baskets for kids to turn in work. I take up work/documents/folders first thing each morning to check off. Once the child has 10 punches, use the reward card coupons for the children to use as they wish. (Sold Separately -- called Reward Card Coupons)
I use duck shapes for my punch cards since I am
a “Duck” wall – get it? but you can choose a theme picture of your own. Just punch inside the shape. Make copies of the cards on CARD STOCK, cut apart and get started.
Enjoy this very rewarding system that teaches responsibility and accountability.
