Punch Cards for Visual Features and Hierarchical Concepts
The term “punch” applies to the use of a hole punch. Hole punching provides the strengthening exercises necessary for scissor and pencil grasp (the tripod grasp). Punch Cards were created with a dual purpose in mind: strengthen fine motor skills necessary for efficient handwriting and secure concepts necessary for Early Literacy. Children also find the hands-on learning engaging! Punch cards are intended to be used as a follow-up to explicit instruction in letter features and hierarchical concepts. The same punch cards can be used over and over to secure the skills and improve efficiency.
