I have broken down the writing clusters and NAPLAN expectations, to create a set of posters to be used as a 'Bump it Up Wall' in my classroom. I find that punctuation is one of the areas that the students really struggle with. I use this visual learning tool to hand over the learning to the students and encourage them to drive their own learning. They can submit their writing for review at any time to see if they can move up a cluster.
Laminate your class names and these posters. Use some blu-tac and plot your student names against the cluster posters based on their writing pre-test. Encourage the students take responsibility for their learning.
