This is a set of Punnett Square word problems that I created for my Genetics Unit. This project includes 7 word problems and an example for the teacher to do with the class. Depending on the students abilities, students can do this activity in cooperative learning pairs or alone. Students will read each word problem and determine the genotype and phenotype of each set of parents. Students will also calculate the percent and fraction of each genotype and phenotype of the offspring in each cross.
This project covers the following 7th grade science standards:
2. A typical cell of any organism contains genetic instructions that specify its traits. Those traits may be modified by environmental influences. As a basis for under standing this concept:
c. Students know an inherited trait can be determined by one or more genes.
