Pages 3-5: Amazing Word Cards
Pages 6-10: Spelling Word and Challenge Word Cards
Pages 11-13: Word Wise (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students choose six words from the word cards. Write the words and use each word in a sentence.
Pages 14-16: Word Work (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students write and say eight word card words. Write a rhyming word next to each word.
Pages 17-18: Let’s Write! (I hang up the poem poster on our class focus wall. This helps remind students of what a fairy tale is and what vivid verbs are). Students write a short fairy tale about solving a problem and use four vivid verbs.
Pages 19: Words To Know (You will need books and magazines with unfamiliar words for students. They will look up the definitions and write sentences using the words).
Page 20: Read For Meaning (Read a Leveled Reader. Write two sentences comparing two characters and write two sentences contrasting two characters).
Page 21: I included a portion of Purdy’s Problem and How She Solved It for students to read for fluency.
