counting Cards: Here is the purrfect set of Common Core activities for your Math centers. There are 7 sets of cards that your kiddos can use for both fun and learning in your math class. The sets are:
Number cards 1 to 100
- Kids can arrange the cards in counting order or they can simply use them for labeling on their counting mats.
Let's Count in Tens!
-Much fun to be derived from reading the numbers that lead up to the 'tens'.
How many are there?
-Your kids will count the objects on each card and say the amount. The objects are arranged within the ten frame to facilitate easy counting.
Dare to Compare!
-Your kids will have to compare the two numbers written on each card. They are to use appropriate vocabulary (e.g. larger, smaller, greater, less etc) in their discourse.
Where's the Number _____?
-The bearer of the card will have to read the number word then select the appropriate number symbol by highlight (if working independently) or by pointing out the correct response to their group peers.
Which Number comes next?
-In the style of the "I Have Who Has?" games, this activity calls on any student to say what number card he has. The person with the card bearing the next number should respond.
-Each of these cards contain a number from 1 to 20. Your kiddos will have to step down by 1 and write or name that number, and step up 1 to name the number that comes after in counting sequence.
All activities in this set can ensure both fun and enjoyment in a mathematical learning environment.
