Pages 6-10: Spelling Word and Challenge Word Cards
Pages 11-13: Word Wise (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students choose six contractions from the word cards. Write the two words that form each contraction. Use each contraction in a sentence.
Pages 14-16: Word Work: (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students choose nine contractions from the word cards. Say each contraction aloud. Write the two words that form the contraction. List other contractions.
Pages 17-18: Let’s Write! (I hang up the fictional story poster to help students remember what a fictional story is). Students write a story about a picture from a magazine and include at least two characters. Your story must have a beginning, middle, end, and setting.
Pages 19-22: Words To Know: Laminate the word cards. These word cards are homophones. Students choose four pairs of homophones (eight total cards). Write sentences for each of the words to show the different meanings. They will need to find the two word card words that are pronounced the same, but have different spellings and meanings.
Page 23: Read For Meaning: Students read a Leveled Reader. Draw a conclusion about its subject. Write one sentence stating your conclusion and two sentences with supporting details.
Page 24: I included a portion of Pushing Up the Sky for students to read for fluency.
