This product includes two activities for teaching Put First Things First for Leader in Me. It teaches the skill of prioritizing tasks students do every day.
In the first activity, cut out the colorful activity cards out and distribute one to each student. Post the jar sheets around the room. Students will mix around the room to find the jar that matches their color of card. Students will then discuss with their group which two activities are FIRST THINGS and which two they should do after they have put first things first. There are no correct answers, but the activity requires students to examine what their values are and how they prioritize based on those values and principles.
There are 12 total activities which include:
-read a book
-draw a picture
-play with your sister
-play on an iPad
-feed your dog
-play with play doh
-call your grandpa
-play with toys
For the second activity:
Brainstorm a list of things students do when they get home from school. Students will then use a jar recording sheet to decide what the FIRST THINGS are. They can draw or write these activities in the big circles on this sheet. The next most important things go in the slightly smaller circles, and etc. I encourage my students to display this sheet at home to remind themselves to PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST.
