Welcome to the Puzzle Pieces Story Writing Prompts. Writing stories can be both creative and collaborative. In this project, students will work together to write a story using a puzzle piece graphic.
This worksheet will work well with any age of students but I specifically use it with students in 2nd grade through 5th grade. Give students each a puzzle piece. The pieces say character, setting, or problem on them. Students then need to each separately write a character, setting or problem on their puzzle piece. Then they come together by the number on their piece to write their story based on the elements that they have written. You can get some very hilarious results. When the story is finished, it makes a great display or bulletin board when put together as one whole puzzle with the story below.
Images for this worksheet are in the public domain. I created the template.
