Trace. Write. And put together a beginning sound puzzle (with the exception of /x/ which is an ending sound - fox).
All puzzles are nonfiction images.
The handwriting is designed with a purpose using the ideology from Handwriting Without Tears. Since most students are right-handed, students first trace the letter, then write it on their own. Their hand covers the rest of the letters that are not yet traced, and they are directly modeling the letter that they PREVIOUSLY traced. So trace, write, trace, write, etc.
In the top right corner, it tells you what the puzzle should be of (desert, elephant, farm, guitar, house, igloo, jump, k/coffee, lake, etc.)
If you don't want to use ink for the puzzles -- simply print in black and white! :)
Each puzzle has 6 pieces so it should be a relatively quick (-10 minutes) assignment.
