This packet of worksheets are extra practice for short vowels, l-blends, r-blends, and consonant digraphs: th and sh. They are in the same sequence as taught with Macmillian first grade reading series, as that is what I taught when I first created them. I think this packet includes all the phonics patterns taught in the first 2 units.
I made these worksheets because children love to look for words in puzzles, but I wondered if they were paying attention to the recognition of words, rather than just finding words. Therefore, I added a cut and paste with pictures and words at the end of every Seek and Find activity. I wanted my students to read the words in context and visualize the meaning of the sentences. I created a worksheet of pictures and sentences that match the Seek and Find patterns. The children have to cut and paste pictures next to the sentences that illustrate the statements.
Most of the time, I put these out so that kids could work on them after they entered the classroom. I let children work together, so the activities would be more enjoyable.
