Idioms can be difficult to explain for SLPs and hard for students to comprehend and retain. This activity helps the students to visualize the link between the idiom and its meaning. The writing activities help the students to generalize the meaning and feel comfortable using the idioms.
This activity works great as a group activity or to do half in the session and send half home for homework and parental discussion. This activity includes 106 idioms and their meanings along with one universal worksheet to explore the idiom and practice using it.
Directions: Print the worksheet for each idiom you will target. Print the idiom puzzle pieces and cut apart. Students will match and paste the idioms and their meanings and complete the worksheet.
