Puzzling Polygons is a fun Common Core activity that will help students learn about polygons. In the first part of the activity, the students are introduced to polygons. This works great with manipulatives so that students can hold and see the differences in the polygons. Other activities allow students to make visual searches to see if they can identify polygons within the classroom, and include an opportunity to write about what they have learned. Students also get to demonstrate what they have learned by drawing and labeling important features of the polygons. Very easy to determine which students have mastered the concept and which ones have not. Great introductory activity!
Designed for 4th grade, but can be used in other grades.
