Use this with your students to research the 2018 Olympic Winter games in Korea! This is a quick and simple way to include the games in your classroom. The Mini Research Pennant includes one pennant. You provide the materials for the research.
My approach would be to discuss my expectation for each section, then have students use the internet and the Olympic website to research about the 2018 Olympics.
Mascots: Pyeongchang has one mascot. Draw and color the mascot. Write the name below the box. Photos can be found online.
Emblem: Each Olympics has its own emblem. Students copy the emblem into the space and use the correct colors for the lines of the emblem.
The Games in Numbers Use the Olympic website to find the answers.
Medal Count: Students can pick up to 4 countries to follow during the games. I ask students to fill in the countries spot in the chart using abbreviations for the countries. Look up abbreviations for the countries to find the standard abbreviations used.
Memorable Moment. Discuss Olympic happenings daily or have students watch the news and look for highlights from the games. Usually it does not take long for a memorable moment to happen.
Map: For the map have students 1) Draw a star to represent Seoul. 2) Draw a dot to represent the location of Pyeongchang 3) Shade the area of the Taebaek Mountains. 4) Color the remainder of South Korea another color. I would mention that Korea is not an island but a peninsula and have a look at a world map to demonstrate.
Please ask any question prior to purchasing. I am quick to respond!
