Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw is one of the classic pieces of literary students often read in high school. The play provides an opportunity to study characters and their motives. Character analysis is an important skill for students to perfect in a high school, especially if students are able to follow up by an in-depth written response based on their findings.
This lesson asks that students analyze Professor Henry Higgins by finding examples of his fickle character. As this character examination unfolds, students should discover both honorable and dishonorable attributes of Higgins. These findings will serve as the foundation for a quick-write response or for an in-depth analytical essay.
