### PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

First Quadrant Only (Grid 40 x 30)
Two Projects: One with fractional points (1/2) and one without fractions

This coordinate graphing project is fun for the student and makes a great bulletin board idea as well. This project can be used by anyone studying ancient Egypt. Students will use their knowledge of coordinate graphing and ordered pairs to create a drawing of the Great Pyramids of Giza. This will be created by plotting ordered pairs and then connecting them with straight lines.

This activity can be a class project or something to be worked on independently when time allows. It also works as an extra credit assignment or when there is a substitute teacher.

The graph consists of points in the first quadrant using ordered pairs. The first project uses fractional points for greater detail. The only fraction used is 1/2. The second project is for those students who have difficulty with fractions. There are no fractional points in that project. When finished, they can use markers, colored pencils or other medium to enhance the project.

* Coordinate graph paper for plotting; the same graph paper is used for both projects (with a light, medium and a dark grid)

Lessons begin at 2nd grade and are appropriate for the Elementary School, Middle School and some for High School students. These projects have been used successfully at both the Elementary and Middle School levels.

Understand that the first number indicates how far to travel from the origin in the direction of one axis, and the second number indicates how far to travel in the direction of the second axis, with the convention that the names of the two axes and the coordinates correspond (e.g., x-axis and x-coordinate, y-axis and y-coordinate).
