### PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

I created an answer key in response to requests from other teachers. The preview file shows you a peek at the answer key; the word document includes the original worksheet and the answer key.

-----------------------------------------------

The Pythagorean Theorem is... my favorite theorem in all of math! It's used in Algebra 1, Geometry, and is the basis of the trigonometric identities.

When my students come to me, they seem to be pre-programmed to "square each number, add them up, and then take the square root," even if one of the given sides is the hypotenuse. This worksheet is my effort to correct that misunderstanding. I also include problems for Geometry, so that when they are asked to determine the distance between two points on the coordinate plane, they can apply what they know. I have a few word problems in there as well.

Because this is an introduction to the Pythagorean Theorem, I stick mostly to Pythagorean Triples. However, there are a few places where I ask them to round.

The file includes spiral review problems. I use it within cooperative groups, and I circulate to make sure that students get the main idea.

This worksheet is intended for students to show their work on a separate sheet of paper.

Please download the pdf preview file first, so you can see what's included; the product file is a word document, which you may personalize for your students.
