Can they control screen output? Let's start by giving them an exemplar to teach how we want them to submit code and then let the kids prove they have mastered the Python's print command. This package builds on the Python 1 A Print Command and 1 B Print Syntax with more student handouts, two coding assessments for descriptive feedback only with code exemplars as well as an answer key, a culminating activity including a planning page and two CA rubrics to choose from. 3 versions of every student handout, a PowerPoint lesson, assessments and answer keys.
There are several advantages of using 3 different versions especially in classrooms where the seating is tight. The versions would be given consecutively around the room so that students sitting together would each get something slightly different. This way students have different examples of the same exercise so they can work together to determine how something works. It also minimizes the amount of copying within the class.
This is the third of 4 resources. It is intended for students with little or no background in computer programming. Concepts and skills have been broken down into short chunks. Students are given short code fragments to explore, followed by questions to consolidate their learning. One assessment has been provided at the end of this package. They are also asked to reflect on their learning and provided terminology to begin a programming dictionary.
