Transfer of knowledge. Learning how to solve problems. That's what kids need to be able to do in the real world. This unit is designed to see if they can take a word problem and design an entire program by themselves. There are 48 different problems in this bundle arranged in order of difficulty: 17 exponent and 31 times tables.
Each student receives their own two page plan - carefully selected by the teacher based on their knowledge of their ability (differentiated instruction). A lesson is provided to demonstrate how to plan a full program - which increases in complexity through Units 8, 10 and 12 (the final culminating activity). Everything is included: student handouts, plan exemplars, a code exemplar and a detailed lesson plan. Unit 7 Conditionals is the next step in this series.
The student handouts will require photocopying but that is all!
