Great tool for increasing metacognition, even in younger readers! This QAR form fits perfectly in the "Before Reading" phase of your lesson. You type or write in 4 facts based on or around what the reader will encounter within the text. The reader decides prior to the read whether the information will come only from their head, or whether they will need to use text information to aid in answering the question. After the read, the reader revisits the form and reflects on how they can answer the questions. Discussion of why they made their choices before and after the read promotes their comprehension of text, and their self-awareness as readers.
