Need a fun and engaging SELF CHECKING activity for your students to do during small groups? QR Codes! They are wonderful and kids LOVE them.
Never heard of QR codes? QR stands for QUICK RESPONSE. They are like barcodes and can be used with ipods, ipads, tablets, smart phones, and even laptops that have cameras. You can find a QR code scanner free in your app store. All your students have to do is work through the problems, grab a technology product mentioned above, scan the QR code.. and the answer pops right up!
In this activity you will find 20 cards asking students to use a ten frame to count on for addition, take away for subtraction, and then 4 bonus questions asking students to write the number sentence for the given problem. Recommended for 1st grade students, K students who are ready for addition and subtraction, and 2nd grade students who are not fluent with their facts just yet.
I suggest laminated the cards for durability. I have included 20 color cards, 20 black and white (for your preference) as well as a recording sheet. The recording sheet also has a place where students can circle if they get the answer correct or incorrect which makes it easier to self-check!
I hope your class enjoys this activity as much as mine did!
Please provide feedback and let me know how this activity worked in your classroom!
