PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This QR Code Light Game to practice transparent, translucent, and opaque vocabulary is self-checking! Students search the room for various transparent, translucent, and opaque objects you've identified using these Light QR Code Cards. Students use their response sheet to label each object as transparent, translucent, or opaque. After completing the task, students scan the QR codes to reveal the answer and a labeled photograph of another example of a transparent, translucent, or opaque object.

***Please NOTE:*** This light activity with QR codes links to photos in Dropbox. Please download my FREE QR Code Activity to test that the QR codes open on your school device (and on school wifi) before purchasing this product. If one of the freebie's QR codes works, they will all work.
I value your time!***

Transparent, Translucent, or Opaque? Directions

QR Code Cards Set Up:
Print the QR code cards and cut to separate the two cards on each page. (I like to print them on colored paper and laminate to use over and over.) Post the QR codes around the classroom, school, or playground on various examples of transparent, translucent, and opaque objects. Use the answer key to determine the type of object (transparent, translucent, or opaque) you should attach each QR code card to.

Pass out the leveled student response sheets. 3 differentiated response sheets are included and discretely marked with different shapes in the top corner. Choose the level of support required to meet each student’s needs. Ask students to read the words in the word bank to determine what the words have in common. Direct them to check their answer at the bottom left of the sheet. (Answer: All of the words have to do with light!).

Student Task:
Independently or in pairs, students set out to locate the QR code clues with their copy of the student response sheet. Students determine type of object (transparent, translucent, or opaque) and write it on the line that matches the number on the QR code card. The cards can be read in any order, as long as students write their answers on the line matching the number on each QR code card.

Finally, students use an iPad, iPhone, or Smartphone to check their answers by scanning the QR codes. (They LOVE this part!) A picture example and the answer word will appear to allow the students to self-check their work and reinforce the concept of transparent, translucent, and opaque objects. Any free QR code reader will work with this game.

See the PREVIEW for ideas for differentiation and extension, as well as suggestions for transparent, translucent, & opaque objects in your classroom to use for this activity.

These activities easily integrate technology and make engaging, nearly no prep centers for Reading & Science teachers with:
- iPad Classrooms (with 1 iPad or many!)
- BYOT and BYOD Classrooms with students’ wide variety of iPads, iPhones, tablets, etc.
-Classrooms with just a couple old Smartphones (Android or iPhone)…like my classroom! :)

To easily download a FREE QR Code Reader from the App Store (for iPhones & iPads) or Google Play (for Android phones and tablets), just search the phrase, “QR Code Reader” and choose the QR scanner you’d like. I personally use “QR Code Reader” on my Android and “QR Reader” on my iPad & iPhone. Both apps work well for me, but any free QR scanner will work!
